Loran Keith (Incumbent)
My wife Christy and our two kids moved to Spring Valley Lake several years ago because we found it to be an inviting and safe community for children and family. Playgrounds, basketball courts, baseball fields and fishing areas presented many outdoor recreation and fun options for our kids, and family members when they visit. The thought of our children being able to walk and ride their bikes on the streets and walk to friend’s houses were things we looked forward to. The biggest attraction to us was the well maintained houses. From the houses themselves to the yards, there seems to be a sense of pride in having a well maintained yard here.
We have enjoyed the many amenities of living here in Spring Valley Lake. This community has been able to uphold its reputation of being the jewel of the desert, due to several of the volunteer committees and board members. I believe in the power of volunteering and the value it adds to one’s life. I am an active supporter and member of the The High Desert Woodworker’s Association, Woodworkers Guild of America and several other Non-profit organizations. Professionally I am a Sheriff’s Deputy in San Bernardino County and I served several years in the United States Air Force.
With that being said, I have first-hand knowledge that we, as a community, are not immune to the economic, social, criminal and environmental issues that surround us. The Board of Directors have been an integral part of forging roadblocks for the Mars Nutro plant and Walmart Supercenter; as well as improving our security patrol, securing and procuring water rights, creating a plan to improve Meadowlark Park, promoting environmentally friendly water usage and proactively identifying and addressing many issues before they become serious and costly problems.
As a returning board member, my focus will be to assist in keeping our community a safe place for families. Maintain a balanced budget and safe reserve fund while keeping in mind capital improvement projects to better serve the community at the correct times. My second focus will be in the area of listening to, digesting, investigating and responding to issues brought up by community members.
I encourage ALL of our community members who are able to, get your ballots in and vote. Your decision does matter and it does count. YOUR vote is YOUR voice in how our community thrives or deteriorates.
