Brad LetnerAfter a twenty-seven year career in the U.S. Army, Teresa and I found our “dream house” by the lake here in SVL. We love our community and are completely dedicated to keeping it a beautiful, safe, desirable place to live and raise a family.
We have lived in the Victor Valley since 2000. My wife, Teresa, has been a teacher at Victor Elementary District for seventeen years. Our three daughters graduated from Silverado High School and from Cal-Poly Pomona. I planned to end my military career in 2000, but 9-11 changed my plans. I volunteered to return to Active Service for the War on Terror. From 2004 to 2014, I served two tours in Afghanistan, receiving a Bronze Star for service. I also served two tours at the Pentagon. While at the Pentagon, I stood up a 24/7 Wounded Warrior Hotline from scratch in less than 96 hours. I love opportunities to make things happen with limited resources.
Since my Army retirement, I’ve been actively engaged in our High Desert community. I’m the CEO of the Hesperia Chamber of Commerce and the President-Elect for the Victorville Rotary Club. This year I began teaching Public Speaking at VVC’s dual enrollment program at Hesperia High School as a VVC Adjunct Professor.
I’m a member of the Victor Valley College Foundation President’s Circle. I have served on the board of directors for the St Mary Medical Center Foundation (2014-16) and as a Trustee of the Spring Valley Lake chapter of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars (2014-2015). I was honored to be selected by Assemblyman Jay Obernolte as the 33rd Assembly District Veteran of the Year in 2015.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics from Western Michigan University, a Master’s Degree in Communication from Spring Arbor University, and a Certificate in Project Management from UCLA Extension. I believe my strong local commitment along with my life experiences in the Army have prepared me to serve our Spring Valley Lake community. Please vote for me, Brad Letner, for the SVL Board of Directors.
